Cristiano Ronaldo has appeared to hit back at compatriot and former coach Jose Mourinho with a cryptic Instagram post after Mourinho criticized Ronaldo’s touch line behavior during the EURO 2016 final.
Ronaldo was stretchered out of the field in the first half due to a knee injury in the match and came out in the final minutes of extra time to bark instructions at his teammates- to inspire them to hold on to their 1-0 lead. But Mourinho , who weeks ago claimed Ronaldo wasn’t in his top three players of all time , criticized Ronaldo , saying his touch line antics didn’t do his team any favors at all.
‘Ronaldo didn’t help in any way by doing that in the final few minutes of the Euros final,’ the United manager told Portugal’s SporTV. There were 11 players on the pitch doing their job, and the person in charge of directing them was the coach.
‘I saw it as an overload of emotion from someone who saw that the team was just minutes away from achieving an objective which everyone wanted.’
‘He lost a little emotional control, not that that’s a bad thing, but what my experience tells me is that it is in these moments, when important decisions might need to be made, that the players are lost in their own little worlds.’
Ronaldo appears to have bit back at his former Real Madrid manager as he took to his Instagram account to post the picture above, which shows him celebrating the European trophy with team-mates Bruno Alves, Pepe and Andre Gomes. He captioned the picture with the words: ‘Quick remind’.
Brazil's beach volleyball stars have made a winning start in their hunt for gold at the Rio Olympics, beating their opponents on Copacabana's golden sand.
The women's double of Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas defeated on Saturday their Czech Republic rivals 19-21 21-17 15-11 in front of a packed crowd at a stadium on Rio's famous beach.
Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt, the country's male beach volleyball pair, also beat their Canadian oponents in straight sets.
"To start an Olympics at home, to see this crowd shouting Brazil, it's a dream come true," said Cerutti.

Brazil has won more medals in beach volleyball than any other country since it was introduced to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
In Rio, where nets dot the coastline, long stretches of sand provide the perfect training ground for aspiring beach volleyball stars.
"As any visitor to Rio's beaches will tell you, Brazil's prowess in the sport is on display every day," Al Jazeera's Adam Raney, reporting from the city's renowned Ipanema beach, said.
"People have been coming out to beaches like Ipanema and Copacabana to practice the sport for more than a half century."
"Everyone thinks Brazil is great at football. No we're also good at volleyball," player Barbara de Sousa told Al Jazeera.
On Saturday morning, outside the stadium on Copacabana, crowds were riotous despite long lines and delays at security gates. Hundreds without tickets cheered from the street and on the sand nearby.
Willy Pereira, 28, a computer technician, wearing a Brazil shirt as he stood in line for the matches explained the love locals have for the sport.
"I love the beach. I play volleyball ... on this beach or in Ipanema," he told Reuters news agency.
"It's a marvelous sensation to have this so close to home."
Nara, Japan - A Japanese hauling company which employs many elderly people has invested in an exoskeleton to take the strain off its staff.
Tatsumi Shokai Logistics - which employs more than 700 people in total across its sites - has been building the robot since 2014.
The exoskeleton helps employees to carry out their jobs, which include constantly loading, unloading, carrying and bending.

"The burden on my back and legs has been lessened by half," Kenji Takemura, an employee at the company for more than 34 years, told Al Jazeera.
The 57-year-old said that he could do the same work over a long period of time, adding that he hoped to continue working for another decade.
The findings of the recent national census suggest Japan's population will fall dramatically over the next few decades.
With an ageing population and fewer young people to replace them, some academics predict that finding a fit and capable work force will be challenging.
"We will have a shortage of work force in the future and robotics could help us," Yasuhiko Saito, a Nihon University professor specialised in demography and gerontology, told Al Jazeera.
"I think the migration policy won't help to replace the shortage of the labour force. So robotics may be the one way to accommodate that shortage."
Companies such as Tatsumi Shokai are spearheading research.

Exoskeletons are not a new invention but Tatsumi Shoaki may be the first company prioritising older people as principal users.
The cost of these projects is kept secret but the results are tested out publicly.
Tatsumi Shokai's robot, which would allow someone to work beyond their retirement age, can lift a person of more than 89kg.
The current prototype is for those that walk long distances, such as those that work in the countryside or in hilly areas. It helps maintain stamina and strength as well as supporting the body's joints.
"More people can work with the assist suits. People can continue working longer and the devices allow people who do not have enough physical strength to work again," Keiko Fakul of Activelink said.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have managed a lone goal win over the Young Menas of Niger in an African U17 qualifying match.
A second minute goal by Alagbe Oluwatobiloba was all Nigeria needed to claim all three pints in the crucial fixture played at the National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, August 6.
The Eaglets were drawn into the second round of the qualifiers for Madagascar 2017 and have started their quest against their familiar foes the Junior Menas on a bright note.
Nigeria finished fourth at the continental cadet championship hosted by Niger, where they defeated the hosts 2-0 in front of their fans in Niamey.
However, assistant coach of the team, Nduka Ugbade, believes the five-time world champions will emerge victorious.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned calls by the newly appointed leader of Boko Haram, Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi, for Christians to be killed and their churches attacked by the terrorist sect.
In a statement on Saturday by its Director, Prof. Isiaq Akintola, MURIC said that it is totally despicable and criminal to target fellow human being for annihilation, adding that the call by Al-Barnawi could only come from a twisted mind.
The new Boko Haram leader said Abubakar Shekau, the former leader, deviated from the group’s ideology when he attacked both Muslims and Christians as well as their worship places.
Al-Barnawi stressed that under his leadership, Mosques, markets and other public places used by Muslims would be spared from further attacks but the same cannot be said for Churches and military establishments.
Mr. Akintola, however, said “Islam is love, not hatred. Islam gives life, not death. It builds and does not destroy. The Glorious Qur’an only allows Muslims to fight in self-defence (Qur’an 2:190). It forbids unjust and unlawful killing (Qur’an 6:151). It compares anyone who kills his fellow man to one who kills all homo sapiens (Qur’an 5:32)”.
“We remind the Boko Haram coercion ideologues of the moderate posture of the Glorious Qur’an towards non-Muslims. Qur’an 2:256 says there should be no compulsion in religion. Qur’an 10:99 completely sweeps the carpet off the feet of agents of belligerence as it declares, ‘So you forcefully compel people to believe in Allah? But they would all have believed if Allah had wanted it so!’”, he added.
The MURIC director said Nigerian differences in matters of faith are part of the deliberate and grand design of Allah as confirmed in Qur’an 11:118 that there would still have been differences even if the whole world follows a single religion.
He, therefore, charged Muslims worldwide to limit their religious zeal to the true dictates of Islam as reflected in the verses of the Glorious Qur’an lest they transgress and should leave non-Muslims alone as Allah did not give anyone the assignment to punish those who reject Islam.
“We reaffirm our readiness to peacefully coexist with our Christian neighbours. We reject hate speeches and their authors whether from Boko Haram or the Islamic State (ISIS). The directive to attack Western interests is antithetical to the non-racial and pax vobiscum leaning of Islam”, Prof. Akintola stated.
“We call on the Nigerians and the rest of the world to separate criminals from their religion and desist from stereotyping Muslims as terrorists or their sympathizers. In this regard, we welcome the recent pronouncement of Pope Francis in which he urged the world to stop equating Islam with terrorism.
“We urge Muslims in the country to demonstrate solidarity with their Christian neighbours by ensuring that Boko Haram elements are not allowed to launch attacks on Christians in their neighbourhood. We have a duty to defend our Christian neighbours at this critical stage. This is the way to keep Nigeria united”, the statement concluded.
Teenage Colombian forward Marlos Moreno has joined Manchester City on a five-year contract, the Premier League side announced on Saturday.
The 19-year-old arrives from his formative club Atletico Nacional and will spend the 2016-17 season on loan at Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.
He is reported to have cost City 4.75 million pounds ($6.2 million, 5.6 million euros).
“City are one of the best clubs in the world. It will be nice to experience being part of such a big club. I want to make the most of it,” Moreno told the City website.
“Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world. I think he likes young players very much and he can improve young players tactically and technically.
“It will be great to work with him and to be part of a great team.”
Moreno has been capped seven times by Colombia and helped Atletico Nacional win this year’s Copa Libertadores.
He is new City manager Guardiola’s seventh close-season signing, following Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and Aaron Mooy.
“Marlos is an excellent prospect who has already broken into his national team,” said City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain.
“He’s a versatile player, still learning, but we believe he has a fantastic future in the game and with City.

The Chairman, Global Fleet Nigeria Limited, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, on Thursday, obtained the Peoples Democratic Party’s nomination form to vie for the governorship seat of Ondo State.
He was the first aspirant to pick the form from the factional National Chairman of the PDP, Modu Sheriff.
While speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim promised to pay the salary of workers in the state within 100 days.
He stated that the Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, had no locus to lay claim to the chairmanship of the party.
He said that Sheriff was known to law having taken over from Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, who resigned as the national chairman before the expiration of his tenure.
Jimoh stated that he would better the lot of the citizens of the state by ensuring prompt payment of salaries, adding that the Olusegun Mimiko-led administration was owing workers salaries.
He described governors owing workers salary as people without initiative, adding that Ondo State had over 10 solid minerals which he would tap to develop the state.
He claimed he had over 8,000 workers in his employ even as he assured Sheriff that when he (Sheriff) visits Ondo State after he (Ibrahim) would have won the governorship election, the state would have assumed a better look.
He said, “I will restructure the state in the area of capacity building, good innovation and by putting the right thing in the right place at the right time. I will pay the workers within my first 100 days in office.
“Non-payment of salaries by state government is the failure of innovation by state governors.
“It is when you are innovative that you will be able to pay salaries. Those (governors) who are owing are not efficient. I’m not owing any of my workers.”
In his reaction, Sheriff said he had known the aspirant long ago and assured him of his support.
He also described him as a capable hand that could turn the state around if given the opportunity.
But the Ondo State chapter of the PDP declared on Thursday that Ibrahim was not a member of the party.
The state chapter of the PDP insisted that the businessman was a member of the Accord Party in the state and not its member as Jimoh claimed.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP in the state, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, stated this while reacting to a report that Jimoh has obtained the governorship nomination form of the PDP in Abuja.
Fadaka said, “I can confirm to you that Jimoh Ibrahim is not a member of our party, the PDP. He has since been rid of his membership and we all know that he is a bona fide member of the Accord Party. So, for him now to make a somersault and pick a governorship form of the PDP is a shameless thing anybody can do in this situation.
Similarly, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said the PDP and the administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko were not bothered by the action of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, saying he (Jimoh) had never been a loyal member of the PDP.
He alleged that the governorship aspirant wanted to play a spoiler role against the PDP in the state, stressing that all the members of the party in the state were one and there was no crisis within the state’s chapter of the PDP.
Akinmade said, “He is not our member. During the last general election, he didn’t work for the PDP. We know whom he worked for. As far as we are concerned, there is no cause for alarm. Ondo State PDP is not shaken, we are intact.”
